Six degrees of separation is the theory that every person is connected to every other person on Earth and the connection between two people can be made in six steps or less.  Let’s put the theory to test.  How are Kardinal Offishall and President Barack Obama connected?

Kardinal and Rihanna started recording music together in 2004, while Rihanna was still an unsigned artist.  “Rush”, from her debut album, “Music of the Sun”, was one of the songs originally recorded for her demo.  Kardinal made a cameo in Rihanna’s first video, “Pon de Replay”.  Rihanna appears on the album version of “Numba 1 (Tide is HIgh)” from Kardinal’s 2008 release “Not 4 Sale”.

Kardinal met Jay-Z in 2005 and was an invited guest to perform at the now legendary Roc da Caribana performance in Toronto.   The Roc da Caribana event marked Rihanna’s first live Toronto performance.  Jay-Z and Kardinal remain friendly.

Jay-Z managed to get Oprah to hang out in the Marcy Projects for her interview of him for her Oprah show and O magazine interviews.

Oprah and Obama are two of Chicago’s brightest stars.  Oprah was a huge catalyst of support when then Senator Obama was trying to garner support for his presidency.  Kardinal made the journey to D.C. to be present for Obama’s inauguration.
